Mulalley has completed a major refurbishment of Henniker Point in Stratford, a 23-storey high rise occupied block, for the London Borough of Newham.
Two Considerate Constructors Scheme (CCS) visits were completed, with one scoring an Excellent 45 (normally the maximum) and the second scoring a very special 48, following the award of an additional three best practice points.
The CCS Executive Summary states: “The detail in the good practice examples above are evidence of the highly experienced Mulalley team addressing every single part of the Core Code particularly with engagement within the community and support of the workforce. A portfolio of supporting evidence and photographs added further proof of ongoing plans and intent adding to the impressive, long-standing record of excellence particularly in social housing refurbishment when each project is taken to the next level of best practice. Great effort and well done.”
Bruce Benson, Mulalley Construction Managing Director said: "These works to Henniker Point are a great example of how a major refurbishment to a 23-storey high rise occupied block should be undertaken, and the remarkable Considerate Constructors scores achieved by the Project Team, further endorse our long-standing record of excellence in this field. Well done to everyone."
Works included the design and installation of an A1 Fire Rated External Wall Insulation System, replacement windows and balcony doors, lightning protection and a new gas riser boxing undertaken to the external façade. Fire stopping and compartmentation works were designed and installed to common areas and where interfaces with external elevations were required. Internally, front entrance fire doors to dwellings were renewed along with live soil stack replacement using Terrain FUZE HDPE system by Polypipe. A strong partnering ethos and good communications with the London Borough of Newham’s in-house Mechanical Department allowed our Client to install new boilers to all dwellings during the same project period. Thermographic air tightness test before and after works, shows significant improvements to all properties with EPCs registered for all 91 dwellings now rated B or C.
