Last week Mulalley hosted students from our partners The Construction Youth Trust in Lambeth at our Fenwick South Estate development in Clapham North. The students visited site as part of Lambeths “Meet The Apprentice” week. Our Bricklayer Kristian was on hand to meet four students alongside our Senior Project Manager and Cathal Geraghty from K10, who answered questions about apprenticeship routes, safety on site, good and bad points of being an apprentice and what made it an attractive career to Kristian.
Kristian’s passion and experience regarding apprenticeships really helped the students gain an insight into what an apprenticeship entails and whether it’s a career path that suits them, several in the room already seemed keen to start their journey as a trade apprentice.
Mulalley Managing Director for New Build, John Moore, said: “It is so important for us to engage with students and give young people a real insight of what goes on within the construction workplace and encourage many of them to consider a career within the Construction Industry, which hopefully will help to bridge the skills shortages and bring more diversity to the workforce. Kristian is a fantastic example of what hard work and dedication can achieve in a relatively short period of time, and is a great role model for other students thinking about starting an apprenticeship.”
Mulalley is carrying out the works on behalf of TfL to provide 46 new affordable homes on this one-acre site. Working with the London Borough of Lambeth, each of these will be high-quality, dual-aspect, one-to-three-bedroom homes.
