Recently Mulalley organized for Architecture students from Greenwich University to have a site tour of our Frankham Street New Build Development in Lewisham.

Twelve of the Lewisham students, along with their teacher, were welcomed by our site team with a general explanation on the importance of Health and Safety on construction sites, and an introduction to the different roles within a site construction team including the design team; pre-construction: procurement and construction. With everyone kitted out in regulatory issued PPE, the students were able to proceed onto the site and witness a busy construction site in action. Students were particularly interested in the industries swing back to traditional brickwork and the challenges of converting old buildings from things like schools into accommodation.

Amanda Greenslade from Greenwich University said: "“This opportunity has enabled our students to see some of the wide range of skills required once a project gets to site, seeing in practice the use of different materials and construction techniques is invaluable to our construction students. The students were able to see how the project is managed and run. The guided tour of parts of the site to see the stages of construction was an excellent opportunity for the students to see how a construction site works. This visit has given them an insight into career opportunities at the end of their studies. A big thank you to Mulalley for taking time to work with us and especially to David who gave a first class tour of the site.”

With the current skills shortage in the construction industry Mulalley is proud of the work we are doing with local colleges and universities and other education providers to tackle this.”

Mulalley is currently working on behalf of Peabody in the London Borough of Lewisham delivering 144 new homes at Frankham Street Phases 1 and 2, we are also working on behalf of Greenwich University on several projects including the design and installation of 7 air source heat pumps with associated fabric improvements.
