Mulalley Support Womens Art Project in Lewisham

Today is International Women’s Day. As part of the celebrations Mulalley has been helping to showcase female artists at our Frankham Street site in Lewisham.

Mulalley had the opportunity to be the first host for an innovative women’s art project called “Procreate”.

Procreate is supported by Lewisham Council as well as Arts Council England. Mulalley is currently working on behalf of Peabody in the London Borough of Lewisham delivering 144 new homes at Frankham Street Phases 1 and 2, and our large surrounding hoarding had been used to display thirteen art works with several created by Lewisham residents.

Sarah Le Quang Sang and Procreate founder Dyana Gravina attended Frankham Street to see the art works unveiled, also in attendance were Jake Sowe from Lewisham Council.

Danny O’Reilly – Mulalley Construction Director said: “Mulalley was very proud to be the first to host these important pieces of art, and look forward to the public being able to enjoy them while displayed on our hoardings”.

The Procreate Project is a pioneering grassroots arts organisation supporting the professional development of women and non-binary artists who are mothers/parents. Procreate Project creates radical models and infrastructures for better representation and accessibility, referencing and facilitating systemic change in the arts.

The Procreate Project (PCP) Archive is a digital archive and a collection of printable posters of works made by contemporary artists who are mothers/parents. In response to the ongoing crisis, the isolation and invisibility of unpaid care work, this space is thought for mothers and primary caregivers to re-occupy public spaces.

The Archive creates a different, and urgent new history of art of the 21st century and is an important tool for new generations to access.
