As part of our Social Value activities we have been supporting local students with the Construction Youth Trust and their Building Future Skills programme.
The Building Future Skills programme is specifically designed to show students first-hand the opportunities which exist within the construction industry. Over the course of 3 days they experience what it’s like to take on different professional roles; from project manager to surveyor, viewing industry from the inside, whilst being provided with the support needed to develop sought after employability skills.
Our Frankham Street site in Lewisham hosted a Building Future Skills day, for a group of fifteen Year 12 Lewisham students on 14th February. The day included a site tour with full PPE provided and sessions with five volunteers from site discussing their roles with a Q&A session at the end.
Danny O’Reilly – Mulalley Construction Director said: “This is our third group of students we have hosted on a site tour at Frankham Street, all the students have been very enthusiastic and professional – I was especially impressed with the questions they asked. Building Future Skills is a key programme to support the current skills shortage in the construction industry and Mulalley are proud of the work we are doing with the construction youth trust and other education providers to tackle this.”
Mulalley is currently working on behalf of Peabody in the London Borough of Lewisham delivering 144 new homes at Frankham Street Phases 1 and 2.
