Mulalley has presented a fully refurbished antique bell back to Seven Sisters Primary School, as part of our social value commitment to Haringey.
The solid bronze bell was made by Warner London in 1912 and was fitted when the school was built in the same year. Warner stopped making bells in 1921 and there are only 2500 of them left in existence worldwide.
To preserve this remarkable piece of history, we decided to clean it and present it to Emma Murray, Seven Sisters Primary School Head Teacher as a surprise.
Refurbishing the bell whilst preserving the age and original features proved challenging but it was ably and professionally done by Brass Master in Watford. The hammer to chime the bell was totally rusted and broken in two, and over the years any links to be able to chime the bell had been closed. Once refurbished, we had a sapele hardwood plinth built for it to be mounted on, and presented it to the school earlier this week.
Emma Murray, Seven Sisters Primary School Head Teacher said: "I am absolutely blown away by the kind and thoughtful gesture of preserving a piece of our school history."
Colin Watson, Mulalley Planned Maintenance Managing Director said :"We always look to give back to the communities in which we work and were thrilled to be able to support Seven Sisters Primary School in a meaningful way by conserving part of their school legacy."
Mulalley is currently working in Haringey delivering improvement works to schools across the Borough.
