Earlier this month we were pleased to host students from La Retraite Girls’ School in Lambeth at our Fenwick South Estate development in Clapham North to get their first experience of a live construction site. The students will be able to reference their visit to Fenwick when thinking about their work experience project, particularly the knowledge they gained on Health and Safety. Students were given a site‐specific health and safety induction and provided with appropriate PPE before being taken on a guided tour of the construction site.
Thomas Glover, Construction Skills Manager, said: “As part of TTL Properties Educational Engagement Programme, a group of 13 T-Level Construction students from La Retraite Girls’ School in Lambeth visited Fenwick. Visits like this are critical in bringing the students’ knowledge to life, showing how the subject matter they learn in the classroom applies to real construction sites.
The Mulalley team’s passion and insight into the project helped the students and teachers improve their understanding of construction and the built environment.”
Mulalley Managing Director for New Build, John Moore, said: “It is so important for us to host site visits for students, as it gives young people a real insight of what goes on within the construction workplace and may encourage many of them to consider a career within the Construction Industry, which hopfully will help to bridge the skills shortages and bring more diversity to the workforce. We are pleased the students enjoyed the site visit and we hope they consider a career in construction.”
Mulalley is currently working on the Fenwick South Estate development in Clapham for TfL to provide 46 new affordable homes at Cottage Grove.
