On 2nd February 2022, Mulalley was pleased to welcome representatives and year 12 students from Lewisham College to their new build project at Frankham Street, Deptford.

Mulalley was appointed by Peabody to design and build 144 new homes across a range of tenures including social rent; private for sale and low‐cost shared ownership dwellings for first‐time buyers. The scheme involves refurbishing and converting the old Tidemill School buildings to deliver top‐quality new homes and exemplar green space for residents and the wider community to enjoy.

Students were given a site‐specific health and safety induction and provided with appropriate PPE before being taken on a guided tour of the construction site. Early feedback from the students indicated they thoroughly enjoyed getting up on the scaffold and observing at close quarters the ornate external brickwork being constructed. Once the tour came to an end, students had lots of questions for Mulalley staff.

John Moore, Managing Director for New Build Division said: “It is so important for us to host site visits for students, as it gives young people a real insight of the work, we do on construction sites and hopefully encourage young people to consider a career in construction.”

These visits are key for our learners to understand site practices, see experienced tradespeople in action and to get a feel of what it will be like when they gain employment in the Construction workplace. We have received extremely positive feedback from both students and staff. Please pass on our appreciation to all who helped provide such an interesting and informative visit. We look forward to working with you in arranging further opportunities for our trainees.”

Works at Frankham Street are anticipated to be completed in late Summer 2023.
