Hidden Careers

In partnership with the Construction Youth Trust, Mulalley recently attended a ‘Hidden Careers Event’ at Swanlea School in Tower Hamlets to raise awareness of the wide range of career options within the construction industry.

The all-female panel included Senior Employment and Training Manager Lisa Jennings, Assistant Site Manager Helen Fenney, Design and Build Coordinator Myrta Fioretto, Electrical Apprentice Tyler Whelan, Resident Liaison Officer Bunmi Akinyemi and Assistant Submissions and Proposals Managers Natasha Furlong and Priya Wolton.

Year 10 students attempted to guess the construction careers of the volunteers by interviewing them in groups and asking yes-or-no questions.  At the end of the session, volunteers revealed which groups guessed correctly and talked to students about what their role entailed and their career pathway.

Naomi Ryan from Construction Youth Trust said: “Thank you to Mulalley– the industry volunteers were very engaging and completely threw themselves into the session.  The students who took part clearly gained a better awareness of the variety of jobs available in the sector and had a fun time in the process!”

Mulalley Construction Division Managing Director Bruce Benson said: “We were pleased to take part in this event and to continue our commitment to supporting schools in promoting construction career choices.”
