Inspiring Future Construction Workers

Mulalley sponsored and judged a brickwork competition, one of a variety of construction skills competitions held at Barking & Dagenham College’s annual skills celebration event, Inspiration 2016. The event held on 11th May had over 60 students competing. First place in the level 1 brickwork competition was awarded to Keighan Fenton, age 16 from Dagenham.

Yvonne Kelly, Acting Principal and CEO of Barking & Dagenham College said: “We are extremely grateful for the fantastic support of our employer partners. As a College we could not develop student’s work-ready skills without it.”

Mulalley Operations Director John Moore said: “We judged the competition against the quality we would require on site. The students grafted all day and in the end it was a very close call. Mulalley is committed to encouraging and developing the construction workers of the future and this competition was a great way to do that.”

Mulalley is currently working with the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham to deliver the first phase of the Leys Estate regeneration in Dagenham, providing new high quality housing with improved links to the neighbouring park. Mulalley has also been chosen to undertake the second phase of the regeneration which is due to start later this year.
