Mulalley recently supported a careers day at Newham’s Plashet School. This event was organised to allow Year 11 students first contact with a variety of employers. The students arrived in work attire rather than school uniform to simulate an interview environment.
BOSS Day developed the students’ comprehension of the job application process. The day offered students guidance on identifying their skills and qualities, interview techniques and how to complete application forms. The day also included information on how to prepare a winning CV and how to make a good first impression. Three facilitators from Mulalley ran classroom sessions explaining what employers are looking for and what can make candidates stand out from the crowd.
A year 11 student commented: “I enjoyed the whole day, from learning how to write an effective CV, talking to professionals, to watching the Actorshop performance."
Mulalley Operations Director John Moore said: “It was great to see these young employees of the future engage with this informative and interesting day. We wish these students all the best in their GCSEs and in their future career choices.”
Mulalley is currently redeveloping the Atherton Leisure Centre in Newham. The new centre which is due to open in 2016 will be an environmentally sustainable complex and will include community and learner swimming pools, fitness studios and a state of the art gymnasium. Nine new family homes are also being built next to the centre.
