Mulalley recently gave six local young people work experience placements at their Basildon site. Working in partnership with the Prince’s Trust, Mulalley began by conducting interviews where the candidates were expected to conduct research on our company and prepare a report, along with their CV’s and any certificates they had already achieved.
Following the pre-placement interview process, six candidates were selected. Five of the candidates gained multi-trade experience and one gained business administration experience over two weeks.
Mulalley supported and guided the young people throughout their placements and varied the work they completed to ensure they attained a good level of understanding of the work that is undertaken. The young people completed daily diaries and attendance sheets and also a final evaluation form so they could note what they had learned.
Ben White said: “I most enjoyed learning new skills and working in a great team”.
Katharine Murdock said: “I gained better organisation skills and more confidence.”
Mulalley Operations Director Bruce Benson said: “Mulalley is always keen to provide work experience for local young people in the areas where we work. It gives them confidence and skills that they can hopefully build on in their search for employment.”
Mulalley is the sole contractor on Basildon Borough Council’s internal Decent Homes Programme, delivering £28 million improvement works to half of its housing stock.
